Victorious: Part III

Big Idea: Kingdom victory comes through unity of PURPOSE and a KINGDOM heart.

Thought 1: Kingdom victory starts with PERSONAL victory.

Judges 6:25-27 – That night the LORD said to him, “Take your father’s bull, and the second bull seven years old, and pull down the altar of Baal that your father has, and cut down the Asherah that is beside it and build an altar to the LORD your God on the top of the stronghold here, with stones laid in due order. Then take the second bull and offer it as a burnt offering with the wood of the Asherah that you shall cut down.” So Gideon took ten men of his servants and did as the LORD had told him. But because he was too afraid of his family and the men of the town to do it by day, he did it by night.

Thought 2: Kingdom victory requires a COMMUNITY of the CALLED and CHOSEN.

Judges 6:33-35

Judges 7:1-8

Romans 10:13 – “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

Matthew 6:30-33 – 30 But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

Thought 3: Kingdom victory requires a Kingdom HEART.

Victorious : Part II

Big Idea: God’s truth is greater than any LIE and his grace is greater than any OBSTACLE.

Judges 6:11-13 – Now the angel of the LORD came and sat under the terebinth at Ophrah, which belonged to Joash the Abiezrite, while his son Gideon was beating out wheat in the winepress to hide it from the Midianites. And the angel of the LORD appeared to him and said to him, “The LORD is with you, O mighty man of valor.” And Gideon said to him, “Please, my lord, if the LORD is with us, why then has all this happened to us? And where are all his wonderful deeds that our fathers recounted to us, saying, ‘Did not the LORD bring us up from Egypt?’ But now the LORD has forsaken us and given us into the hand of Midian.”

Judges 6:1 – The people of Israel did what was evil in the sight of the LORD, and the LORD gave them into the hand of Midian seven years.

John 8:44 – “…. He has always hated the truth, because there is no truth in him.

When he lies, it is consistent with his character; for he is a liar and the father of lies.

Psalm 23:4 (NKJV) – Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will FEAR no evil; For You are with me, Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

Isaiah 41:10 (AMP) – ‘Do not fear [anything], for I am with you; Do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, be assured I will help you; I will certainly take hold of you with My righteous right hand la hand of justice, of power, of victory, of salvation].’

Joshua 1:9 (NKJV) – Have | not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.

Judges 6:14 – And the LORD turned to him and said, “Go in this might of yours and save Israel from the hand of Midian; do not I send you?

Victorious: Part I

Big Idea: Through Christ, I can live a victorious life.

Judges Ch. 6 & 7

Thought 1: The presence of STRUGGLE does not indicate an absence of GOD.

“Repentance is more than “I’m sorry”. Repentance is a U-turn of the heart.”

Thought 2: Victory begins with a HEART-SHIFT.

“God’s instructions don’t always seem to match His promise, but they always line up with His word. His voice will never lead you in opposition to His word.”

Thought 3: Victory is mine when my HEART, my RESOURCES, my STRENGTHS and my WEAKNESS are fully surrendered to God.

“Victory often begins with God removing the resources that you DON’T need.”

Hebrews 10:39 – “But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who have faith and preserve their souls.

ʻOhana Sunday: “Faith”

Big Idea: Trusting God allows me to receive what He wants to give me.

Hebrews 11:8-10 (NLT) – It was by faith that Abraham obeyed when God called him to leave home and go to another land that God would give him as his inheritance. He went without knowing where he was going. And even when he reached the land God promised him, he lived there by faith for he was like a foreigner, living in tents. And so did Isaac and Jacob, who inherited the same promise. Abraham was confidently looking forward to a city with eternal foundations, a city designed and built by God.

Thought 1: By faith we UNDERSTAND and OBEY.

Hebrews 11:1 (NLT) – Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see.

John 3:8 (NLT) – The wind blows wherever it wants. Just as you can hear the wind but can’t tell where it comes from or where it is going, so you can’t explain how people are born of the Spirit.

Thought 2: By faith we PLEASE God

Hebrews 11:6 (NLT) – And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.

Thought 3: By faith we are SAVED

Romans 5:6-11 (NLT) – When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners. Now, most people would not be willing to die for an upright person, though someone might perhaps be willing to die for a person who is especially good. But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. And since we have been made right in God’s sight by the blood of Christ, he will certainly save us from God’s condemnation. For since our friendship with God was restored by the death of his Son while we were still his enemies, we will certainly be saved through the life of his Son. So now we can rejoice in our wonderful new relationship with God because our Lord Jesus Christ has made us friends of God.

Running with Endurance

Big Idea: To run the Christian life of faith we must UNENCUMBERED run with ENDURANCE, and focus on to finish well.

Hebrews 12:1 “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles.”

Make sure that these normally GOOD things don’t become your GOD things.

You can’t run the Christian race with sin that WEIGHT you down and TRIPS you up.

Hebrews 12: 1 Let us run with perseverance; the race marked out for us.

He SPEAKS to us.
Не FIGHTS for us. (Isaiah 9:6 NIV)
Не LIVES within us. (2 Cor 13:5 NIV, Gal. 2:20 NIV)

Hebrews 12:2 Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before Him, endured the cross, scorning its shame and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Every single moment of our life is known by Jesus because He is the one who AUTHORS , FINISHES, and PREFECTS our faith as we run this race called the
Christian life. Psalm 139:13-16 NIV.

Application:
⁃ Don’t be CASUAL with God.
⁃ Be consistent in CORPORATE WORSHIP.
⁃ Be consistent In GOD’s WORD
⁃ Be consistent in PRAYER

Develop BIBLICAL and CLOSE relationships. Ecci. 4:9-10

Big Idea: God created me to thrive in COMMUNITY.

Thought 1: Thriving together is a PRIVILEGE 

Romans 12:5 – so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.

Luke 4:28-30 – 28 When they heard these things, all in the synagogue were filled with wrath. And they rose up and drove him out of the town and brought him to the brow of the hill on which their town was built, so that they could throw him down the cliff. But passing through their midst, he went away.

Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 – Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: lf either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up. Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone? Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.

Thought 2: Thriving together is a RESPONSIBILITY 

1 Thessalonians 5:14 – And we urge you, brothers and sisters, warn those who are idle and disruptive, encourage the disheartened, help the weak, be patient with everyone.

Galatians 6:2 – Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.

Thought 3: Thriving together is God’s PLAN

1 Corinthians 12:17-20 – If the whole body were an eye, where would be the sense of hearing? If the whole body were an ear, where would be the sense of smell? But as it is, God arranged the members in the body, each one of them, as he chose. If all were a single member, where would the body be? As it is, there are many parts, yet one body.
